Associate Attorney
We seek committed Associate Attorneys who are passionate about advocating for clients and their families. Our associates work closely with seasoned family law litigators with decades of advocacy experience. A successful candidate will have the opportunity to represent clients in a variety of family law matters, including issues related to divorce, child custody, child support, alimony, equitable distribution of property, international family law, and domestic violence.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing all aspects of family law cases through resolution including negotiation, litigation, preparation of pleadings, conducting legal research, drafting motions and legal briefs, discovery, and appearing with clients in court proceedings, mediation, and other forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR)
- Consulting with clients and maintaining regular communication, including promptly responding to client questions and concerns and providing ongoing updates about case progress
- Developing creative case strategies based upon individual clients’ circumstances and objectives for their legal matters
- Advising clients and participating in case settlement discussions
- Collaborating with senior attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants to ensure timely, efficient, and effective management of cases
- Remain current with developments in family law so as to be able to provide clients with appropriate legal guidance
Qualifications
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Admission to the Maryland and D.C. bar (Virginia bar helpful), continued membership in good standing, and willingness to obtain additional admissions to practice as needed
- Proficiency in legal research, writing, and oral advocacy
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills

- Experience in family law practice, litigation, and alternative dispute resolution

Paralegal
We seek efficient, personable, and organized paralegals to assist with family law matters to work closely with attorneys and clients in our practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting attorneys in the management of a wide variety of family law matters, including issues related to divorce, international divorce, child custody, child support, equitable distribution of property, alimony, and domestic violence
- Promptly and professionally responding to client inquiries that do not require an attorney’s training or expertise
- Coordinating with clients to collect and organize information and documents required to advance their cases
- Preparing and filing court forms, pleadings, and discovery materials and arranging for service of process where necessary
- Maintaining organized case files and protecting the confidentiality of client materials
- Assisting attorneys with trial preparation, including preparing witness lists, exhibits, summaries, orders and trial binders
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution; training in paralegal studies or law preferred, but not required
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Paralegal certification preferred
- Passion for providing client-focused results

- Experience in a family law practice preferred
Legal Assistant
We seek bright, congenial, organized, and detail-oriented legal assistants to interface with clients and prospects as well as to provide administrative support to paralegals and attorneys in our family law practice.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing calendars, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings and court appearances, drafting documents, assisting with marketing and providing other administrative support
- Answering telephones and direct calls to the appropriate party, and greeting clients and professionals who visit the office
- Conducting initial intakes and scheduling clients for initial consultations and meetings with attorneys
- Preparing correspondence to clients, attorneys and other professionals, and the courts
- Organizing and maintaining case files and protecting the confidentiality of client materials
- Assisting with billing and invoicing, including time entry and expense tracking
- Coordinating case-related communications with opposing counsel, court personnel, and other parties
- Conducting legal filings and document retrievals from the courts
- Performing general office-related duties such as management of incoming and outgoing mail and ordering supplies
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher; legal assistant training or paralegal training preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Prior experience working in a law office preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
